Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has recalled how she financially supported her colleague, Eniola Badmus, when she struggled to secure movie roles because of her appearance.
Speaking about her willingness to help others, Bakare described herself as an outspoken and straightforward person who does not hide her actions or shy away from speaking her mind.
The actress said she used her personal money to support Badmus at a time when filmmakers allegedly did not want to feature her in their productions because of her stature.
“I used to give Eniola Badmus money very well when she was ¥gly and f@t. I used to help her with money when nobody wanted to use her in their movies because of her stature,” Bakare said.
She also addressed the criticism she received over her previous public reaction, claiming that people had misunderstood her actions and taken them out of context.
Bakare further recalled the challenges she faced while producing movies, saying it was difficult to convince people to participate in her projects at the time.
According to the actress, people often judge situations without understanding the circumstances behind them, while disagreements within the entertainment industry can quickly become public.
She also commented on Nigeria’s economic situation, arguing that hunger remained a more pressing concern than dishonesty.
“The world is better now, though hunger is the real problem, not lies, if we look at it properly,” she said.
